"INSIEME"

"TOGETHER"

April has come and gone.

As the fabrics from the new collection become your next Apron, we'll tell you more about how they are made, which is also the perfect opportunity to introduce you to a project that is very close to our hearts.

"TOGETHER" AT FLATWIG STUDIO

Together: this is the name of the project by the girls at Flatwig Studio, which saw the light this spring.
Erica Agogliati and Francesca Avian are two designers based in Milan, like us, who have combined creative design with sustainability.

THE ART OF WASTE

Insieme is a collection of napkins for everyday use, created from our fabric scraps.

We expect this new circular and responsible creative process to be another small step towards a zero-impact economy, because we have always dreamed of doing business with full respect for the environment.

OUR CREED: DON'T WASTE

We are used to preserving our fabrics because we know how to reuse them, we recognize their economic value—so we want to honor our efforts and investments to the fullest—and, finally, because we have been taught to save and reuse.
The habit of not throwing things away
is something that is passed down: an innate attitude that has its roots in family upbringing.

THE IDEA OF FLATWIG STUDIO

Every piece of waste has its own spontaneous, imperfect shape. In the hands of Erica and Francesca, two pieces of fabric are transformed into a unique napkin that comes to life through the cut lines.

The unique character of each creation is determined by the "Heirloom" stitching: ancient stitches once used to recover household linen and mend it with taste, which were done by hand to join two pieces of fabric without overlapping them.

THE FABRIC OF OUR APRONS

In our journey, the choice of fabric was neither obvious nor immediate. We did a lot of research to find a fabric that reflected our idea of sustainability. Of course, it also had to have other equally important characteristics, such as durability, to suit everyday work.

WHY WE CHOSE HEMP

Thanks to its low environmental impact, hemp is probably the best crop for a sustainable model of economic development: it adapts easily and grows even on arid land, so it does not require much water, nor does it need pesticides or fertilizers.

According to some studies, it not only has no negative impact on the environment, but actually improves it: it is a bioaccumulator, meaning it can absorb heavy metals present in the soil, such as nickel, lead, and cadmium, without compromising its growth. For this reason, it is often used in phytoremediation of contaminated soil.

SUSTAINABLE, BUT ALSO FUNCTIONAL
Hemp is a fabric with ancient origins. In Italy, it was used in the maritime republics to make ropes and sails because its long fibers make it very resistant. When mixed with organic cotton, it creates a soft, heavy, and absorbent fabric.

It is the ideal fabric for work because it does not retain odors, is easy to wash, becoming a little softer with each wash, and is resistant to mold, mites, and moths.

THE FABRIC OF OUR APRONS IS UNIQUE AND PERFECT FOR YOU

We wanted to combine hemp with organic cotton and linen.

In our workshop, the fabrics we have produced exclusively for us, organic cotton hemp and hemp-linen, become the aprons that will accompany you in your daily work: lightweight, durable, and elegant.
